Dubai Arrests Israeli Suspect Linked to Crypto Fraud Double Homicide
An Israeli national has been detained in Dubai in connection with the killings of Russian crypto entrepreneur Roman Novak and his wife Anna. Michael Greenberg, a Thailand-based private investigator known as Mike Green, was arrested three months ago by UAE authorities. While not directly accused of carrying out the murders, Greenberg allegedly has ties to eight other suspects already in custody.
The case centers on Novak's controversial crypto past. The Russian national had previously been convicted of fraud in 2020 for running bogus investment schemes, serving three years of a six-year sentence before fleeing abroad. Investigators believe he subsequently raised $500 million through a fraudulent crypto application prior to his death.
Digital evidence from suspects' mobile phones reportedly led to Greenberg's arrest. The couple was reported missing after their driver last saw them in October, with their bodies discovered later. The international crypto community has closely followed the case, which highlights the dark intersections of digital currency and organized crime.
